Chicago Mike's Man Cave Chronicles started as a place for me to share the projects, ideas, reviews and random things I was working on around the house and in the Man Cave.
By trade, I'm a building engineer, so fixing things, building things and figuring out why something isn't working is pretty much wired into me. At home, that can mean home improvement projects, tools, electronics, arcade machines, home theater, product testing or whatever else I've decided to tear into next.
I'm not a professional YouTuber, and I'm definitely not interested in pretending every project works perfectly the first time. Sometimes everything comes together exactly the way I pictured it. Other times I'm three hours into something wondering why the hell I started it.
Either way, that's part of the story.
The same goes for product reviews. If something is great, I'll tell you. If something sucks, I'll tell you that too. Nobody needs another review that sounds like somebody copied the side of the box.
Man Cave Chronicles has always been about building things, learning things, having some fun and hopefully helping somebody else who's trying to figure out the same damn thing.
THEN LIFE HAPPENED.
THE MAN CAVE DIDN'T DISAPPEAR.
LIFE JUST TOOK ME SOMEWHERE ELSE FOR A WHILE.If you've followed the channel for a while, you've probably noticed that Man Cave Chronicles has been a little quieter.
I didn't abandon it. Life just changed.
My kids started getting older. Their sports started getting more serious. And weekends that used to leave time for projects in the Man Cave started filling up with baseball fields, volleyball courts and everything else that comes with being a dad watching his kids grow up.
Naturally, I started bringing cameras.
Then came the game streams. Then graphics. Music. Scoreboards. Soundboards. Walk-up songs. And, because apparently I don't know how to leave well enough alone, the whole thing kept getting bigger.
Somewhere in there, Chicago Mike's Youth Sports was born.
The projects are still here. The ideas definitely haven't stopped. I've gotten into some completely different technology and home-automation projects that may eventually make their way onto the channel too.
As the kids grow, the seasons change and life gives me a little more time to get back into the Man Cave, the channel will keep evolving right along with me.
